About TWSS Columbia

Our mission is to provide a platform for women's voices and to celebrate the contributions of women in Columbia.

Each year at That’s What She Said Columbia, we bring our entire community together to hear the powerful, intimate stories of local women live from the stage of the Missouri Theatre.

About TWSS Columbia

Our Producer & Director

Meet the driving force behind TWSS Columbia, Allie Teagarden.

Allie was born in Kansas City, Missouri, raised in Kansas, and has lived in Columbia since 2017. The love and support of her parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, friends, and mentors shaped her into the person she is today. She's a proud alumna of Kansas State University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and spent the first 11 years of her career in higher education, leading teams and programs while serving exceptional students at public universities across the Midwest. Allie embarked on this journey with TWSS in March 2022 and credits her nonprofit leadership experience with the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana as making this all possible - both in introducing her to TWSS and in helping her develop the skills needed to produce a show here in CoMo. Allie married her college sweetheart, Dr. Kale Monk, in 2011. They welcomed their daughter Andie to the family in 2020 & their rescue dog Remy joined in the fun in 2022. TWSS was founded by three women who wanted to make the world a better place for their daughters and daughters all over the world. Andie is Allie's reason for producing this show and her highest goal is to help her and all women feel empowered to make a difference in their communities and the world.

Our Charity Partner

We are thrilled to announce our 2025 partnership with Love Columbia.

Love Columbia serves anyone in Columbia who is struggling to provide for their basic needs or improve their life and wants help to create a path forward. One in five Columbians live in poverty, and many struggle to make ends meet, find livable wage jobs, or safe, affordable housing. Many of the people we serve have nowhere else to turn. Often, they are under great stress and facing multiple challenges. Without intervention, many of their situations would become quite dire and result in a negative domino effect such as eviction leading to homelessness or unaffordable car repair leading to job loss. Everyone needs hope and someone to accompany them on their journey. When people in need contact us, we listen without judgment and partner with them to improve their lives.

“Love Columbia is honored to have been chosen as the local nonprofit partner for That’s What She Said Columbia. Giving a platform for women to share their creative ideas, hopes and dreams is so important and aligns well with our mission to connect local resources and relationships to love people forward to become their best selves. Women eager to improve their lives make up the majority of the people we serve and can find true inspiration through the work of

That’s What She Said Columbia!”

Jane Williams, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Love Columbia.

Calling All Storytellers!

We’re always on the lookout for everyday women from Columbia who have an incredible story to tell at one of our upcoming shows.

Being a TWSS speaker goes beyond just sharing a story; it's about becoming part of a national movement dedicated to raising women's voices. Speakers join a community of hundreds of women who have graced TWSS stages since 2013, leaving a profound impact on communities across the country.

If you (or a woman you know!) has a powerful story, we'd love to to hear it.

Speaker Spotlight!

That's What Teens Say

At TWSS Columbia, we strive to take empowering women in our community to the next level by giving a platform for the women of tomorrow to share their voices. That’s What Teens Say Columbia is a unique program designed for young women aged 13-18 in the Columbia community, providing them with a unique opportunity to explore the power of their voice, connect with other teens, and get a chance to share their story from the stage for their friends and family.

As we gear up for the next installment of That’s What Teens Say, we invite you to nominate a teen girl in your life who you think would benefit from this transformative weekend. This empowering three-day workshop offers confidence-building exercises, creative writing activities, improv games, and more tools designed to help them realize the power that their voice can have.
